Brachychiton Discolor or Lacebark Tree is related to the Illawarra Flame tree and may be grafted on to it successfully.
Its showy display of pink flowers and its hardiness make it a worthy of planting.
An Australian dry rainforest tree to 30m it is quite slow growing but in full sun will attain a nice pyramidal shape and is quite spectacular in flower although like the illawarra flame tree can be unpredictable.
The best one I have seen was near the swimming pool in Murwillumbah but I am uncertain if it has now been removed.
