These images are of mossy logs and moss growing on the ground and rocks. All are occurring on our property.
Many of these logs were felled by loggers who actively worked the property from the turn of the 19th Century to the 1970's for flooring, wharfing, pit prop and fence post timbers, mainly utilizing Grey Gum,Tallowood,Turpentine,White and Red Mahogany and Brush Box.
A small number of sizeable stumps remain, testimony to the size of some of the old growth trees of past days.
The forest bears evidence of a fire event, possibly the last of which occurred in the 1970's.
Most of the Brush Box is less than 30 years old and probably sprang to life after the last fire event.
The inceasingly shaded canopy is providing an excellent environment for the growth of a wide variety of Epiphytes,Lichens,Fungi and Ferns.
