In 2012 Vivid Sydney Festival organizers chose to make the walls and ceiling of the historic Argyle Cut, in the Rocks, the focus of an interesting and colourful daisy chain and roses lightshow.
The Argyle Cut is located on Argyle St in Sydney's Rocks district. It is a short tunnel cut by convicts through the sandstone ridge of The Rocks to connect Sydney Cove with Darling Harbour and Millers Point. It was considered an engineering challenge for its day when it was started in 1843 by convicts with hammers and chisels. However it was successfully completed in 1867 with the help of explosives. It is possible today to walk through the Argyle Cut to the corner of Lower Fort Rd.
While the lightshows around the harbour are stunning it is worth noting that there is just so much more to the Vivid Sydney Festival and more than one night does need to be allocated to see all that this festival has to offer.

The vivid light festival in 2012 opened on 25th May and closed on June 11th.
