Just around the corner from Nelson Bay lies the idyllic bay side beaches of Little Beach,Fly Point and Shoal Bay. At the eastern end of Shoal bay is Tomaree Headland which together with Yakaba Head on the Hawkes Nest side forms the entrance to majestic port Stephens and The Karuah River and ultimately to the tranquil World Heritage Myall Lakes National Park to the north,extending behind the dunes almost to Forster. We arrived in Shoal Bay to a scene of bushfires raging up the side of Tomaree Head and helicopters dropping water from above.They successfully put the fire out by next morning.
