This now disused historic Anglican Church at Wattle Flat, near Sofala in the NSW Central west is the second church built on this site. The original Anglican Church of St Thomas was erected on the site c.1860 however construction on a new stone church building was commenced in 1871, and the new church was renamed the Holy Trinity. The building was completed in 1874 but for some reason the consecration, by Bishop Samuel Marsden, was not until 1879.
The cemetery at the back of the church then became known as the Holy Trinity Cemetery and was apparently in use from 1871 to as recently as 2002.
As I understand it the building rather surprisingly has no heritage listing and was purchased around 2001 by Paul and Anne Kellett, as a potential retirement residence. Restoration was said at that time to be an ongoing project with a likely completion date sometime soon after 2011.
