Chlorodesmis major Zanardini - Major Turtle Weed - Neds Beach,Lord Howe Island,Australia

At low tide the rock platform at Ned's Beach exposed a myriad of beautifully coloured and diverse corals. The coral around Lord Howe Island is the most southerly in the world and as such may be the last to be impacted by projected forecasts of global warming, namely, coral bleaching.
March is the most likely month for such events to occur when the water temperature can reach 27 degrees celcius.Coupled with extreme low tides, these prolonged high temperatures can bring on bleeching events which can destroy large sections of coral.
