Max Wright was born on 27th September 1922 with his birth certificate saying Sydney however older family believe he was born in Nabiac, NSW. He was 97 when he died on 31st July 2020.
Max was the great grandson of John Wright, shipbuilder, grazier, sawmiller, first white settler (1875), and founder of Tuncurry, NSW. He was also, on his grandmother Ina Inez Wright's side, the great great grandson of Joseph Smith the Morman Prophet.
Max lived in Nabiac, Mt Druitt, Dyers Crossing, Failford, Wingham, Tinonee, Taree, Tuncurry in his own home and finally in a nursing home for his last 4 months in Forster along with his wife of 73 years June who had pre-deceased him by less than one month at age 92. on 3rd July 2020.
Max grew up on his Grandfather Sidney Garden Wrights property Silverfern on Wrights Lane at Dyers Crossing before moving with his parents, Edgar and Jean to their own nearby property, Beau Vista, in 1931.
Max attended Koribah Central School near Dyers Crossing but left school at age 12 and worked his teenage years intitially on George Wellers farm, Riverview, then for George's brother Mick Weller in Nabiac where he operated the generator in the Nabiac power station. He also did other work for Mick Weller.
Max developed from his grandfather and father a great passion for beekeeping which saw it become a consistent income earner as a commercial beekeeper throughout most of his long life despite working several other jobs including house painter, chemical factory manager (18 years).
Max and June had 5 children.
