Built in 1903,the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and Lighthouse Keepers Cottages (now a Maritime Museum) are located on the end of the Cape Naturaliste Road, 13 km from Dunsborough in the Margaret River Region of Western Australia.
The lighthouse and buildings were built from limestone quarried from nearby Bunker Bay.
Panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, Cape Naturaliste, the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and the Geographe Bay coastline can be taken in from the balcony of the lighthouse.
The Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse is one of the Margaret River Wine regions most popular tourist attractions and regular daily tours operate providing interesting commentary about the fascinating maritime history of the Cape Naturaliste and Geographe Bay coast.
In 1996 the lighthouse was totally automated and keepers were no longer needed with Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse being the last lighthouse in Western Australia to lose it's keeper.
