There are actually twin ocean Baths here at the southern end of Austinmer Beach, one built in 1919, and the other in 1930. (One source reports the first of the baths was built in 1914). A walkway passes between the two baths.
Austinmer was a popular train trip out of Sydney being regarded as the Brighton le Sands of the south. The twin or double baths hold fond memories for many who made Austinmer their holiday destination in earlier days.
