After a boat trip to North Bay in the morning we hired kayaks to photograph the coral in the lagoon.Paddling out we saw a small Bronze Whaler Shark and a large Turtle to mention two of the countless other species of fish we saw..
This proved to be a highlight of our trip with the tide as low as any of the locals could ever remember.
The coral reefs at Lord Howe Island,directly off Port Macquarie,on the NSW East Coast of Australia are the most southerly coral in the world.Ball's Pyramid,20 km South East has coral reefs even further south.
With global warming and coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef Lord Howe may well be the last refuge for one of natures most wonderful visual experiences.
