Scuba Diving,Snorkeling,Whale Watch tours and Sea Kayaking are favourite activity of the thousands of people who visit The Pass at Byron Bay. This is the access point to the sea for numerous commercial operators using "Rubber Ducky" type boats. The boats sound a horn on departure and on return to alert body surfers and surfboard riders who use this area at the Pass as it provides excellent well shaped waves. Views can be had from the wooden lookout which provides an excellent vantage point to view all the activity of the bay and to the lighthouse. A point of interest that some viewers may not be aware of is that Byron Bay was the centre of a major commercial whaling industry up until the 1960's.
