Could be a lichen (Usnea sp.?) (or a Spagnum Moss ?)
If it is a Usnea then from what I can find out it could possibly be
Usnea angulataChecklist of Lichens of Australia Queensland LichensLichens of Subtropical QueenslandInterestingly Antarctic Beech was recorded for Boorganna Nature Reserve and the Comboyne Plateau before the almost total clearing of the rainforest. It is now thought to be extinct on the Comboyne Plateau and the escarpment rainforests.
Parts of Comboyne Plateau get as high as 700m so cool temperate rainforest remnants do exist still, unfortunately apparently, minus Nothofagus moorei (Antarctic Beech) although some associated species do occur there.
