Marlee Bridge, Dingo Creek, Marlee - NSW

I am not sure what year this bridge was built but it is nearing the end of its life and has provided an important link to Elands, Ellenborough Falls and the agriculturally rich volcanic soils of the Bulga Plateau.
In 2009 or 2010 ? Manning Shire Council imposed a weight restriction on this and nearby Duffs Bridge and installed speed humps aimed at slowing traffic to the 10km per hour required to extend the life of the bridge into the short term future. A short closure in 2010 meant traffic was diverted via a 13km detour.
The local community was surprised to see the overnight removal of the speed humps soon after they were initially installed and saw this as an irresponsible act as without the humps the community feared further inconvenience and isolation if it became necessary to close the bridge.
Both this Bridge and Duffs Bridge are regarded as having historical significance and ultimate removal may not necessarilly be an acceptable option. Nevertheless the two bridges are now urgently in need of renovation or relacement along with numerous other wooden bridges serving communities across the Manning Valley.
