Laurieton,North Haven and Dunbogan are situated on the Camden Haven River about 20 minutes south of Port Macquarie. These sleepy little fishing, oyster farming and now tourism villages have become home to many retirees from the "big smoke".The tranquil river offers wonderful recreational and photographic opportunities.
Rising above Laurieton,Dunbogan and west Haven is the imposing North Brother Mountain.
A short, but steep drive to the top sees the temperature drop by up to 5 degrees but the view is awesome to the North as far as Hat Head and to the south as far as Cape Hawke and Forster.
The view of the Camden Haven River as it makes its way to the sea is stunning. The tall gums growing on the mountainside are accompanied by many impressive cycads or Burrawangs, some of them hundreds of years old.
The road to the south takes you to Diamond Head and eventually via the Crowdy Bay National Park to Harrington, but be warned, the road can be rough.
Somewhere I have more images of this area so will dig them out eventually.
