The Kohala Mountain is an extinct Volcano that may be in excess of 700,000 years old. Water flows to the Hamakua Coast via numerous rivers gulches and stream. The area is quite remote and difficult to access being largely covered in tropical rainforest with numerous very high waterfalls cascading down the sides of steep gorges and valleys.
