The Historic Official Track Opening and First Race Meeting of the Tuncurry - Forster Jockey Club took place on 14th March 2009.

The first ever official race on the new course was won by 'Feng', ridden by Jockey Marlon Dolendo.

Feature Event, Race 4, the A$10,000 2100m Tuncurry - Forster VB Gold Cup was won by topweight 'Ace Arena', ridden by Jockey Danny Peisley and trained by Ken Faulds in Port Macquarie.
