Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club Inaugural Races 14.3.2009

Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club Inaugural Races 14.3.2009

Poster photographed in a local store window.
The Tuncurry-Forster Jockey Club has worked hard for over 30 years to establish a new racecourse in Tuncurry and finally on the 1st October 2008 the club was granted a licence to conduct race meetings on the new Tuncurry track, the first such new licence granted in NSW in over 10 years.
The weather was kind and the course was in top condition for the Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club's historic 5 race Non TAB inaugural race meeting on Saturday 14th March 2009.

The first ever official race on the new course was won by 'Feng', ridden by Jockey Marlon Dolendo.

Feature Event, Race 4, the 2100m Tuncurry - Forster VB Gold Cup was won by topweight 'Ace Arena' ridden by Jockey Danny Peisley and trained by Ken Faulds in Port Macquarie.
Peisley somehow survived a two rider fall in race 2 to take his place, stiff and sore, in the race and collect the $10,000 prizemoney.
Number 3, Wannabe, ridden by Blake Spriggs finished second in the Gold Cup.
